This is my now page—a snapshot of what currently occupies my mind.

Building (and selling!?) AI agents

Me and my co-founder are testing the waters when it comes to building custom, bespoke AI agents for customers. Niels has a great background in helping companies with their data. I know the ins and outs of AI agents. But I have also been sitting in a tech bubble a bit. We really feel the urge to meet companies where they are and help them implement AI agents for everyday tasks. Developing AI workshops and a heavy focus on co-creation are part of our strategy.

Fitness

I recently got back from a wonderful trip to Peru. Since I spent a lot of time hiking at altitude, I semi-jokingly expected to be in quite good shape physically when I got back. But after a long night flight all I got was this lousy jetlag, and there's still some Peruvian bacteria somewhere in my stomach (or at least that's what it feels like). So for now the focus will be to regain my strength, be a bit more active in the cardio department, and have a long stretch with a small caloric surplus, aiming to gain about 150-200 grams of bodyweight a month.

RoosterApp

My wife is a surgeon in residence. One of her tasks is creating the roster for the operating theatre, the wards and some miscellaneous things. This takes her several hours each month and has to be done in her free time. I already automated part of this for her with a CLI app using a CP-SAT solver to auto-complete this ridiculously complicated roster. This project has macerated a bit during our time in Peru, and I am currently rebuilding it in a way that other people could use it too.

Idle Game

I spent way too much time playing Idle Obelisk Miner. For those not familiar with the genre: it's a pretty hardcore genre where progress in the game continues while you are offline. The basic premise of the game is 'number go up'. The game is a way to stay in touch with the gamer side of myself without spending hours gaming. The payoff is a feeling of progress and a nice tactical / strategical decision every now and then. It has hugely inspired me to take on making a game of its kind, mixing Idle Obelisk Miner-like meta progression with gear and combat theory crafting I used to enjoy in World of Warcraft two decades ago.

Kawasaki Z900RS

After my 1996 Honda CBR600F3 failed me on the highway (TL;DR: lots of smoke and cooking cooling liquid) I've been contemplating what bike to get after riding a yellow crotch rocket for the first 6 years of my motorcycle career. Recently I've settled on the Kawasaki Z900RS and have gotten my hands on a meticulously maintained 2021 model! So I want to ride as much as possible for the remainder of the season and start modifying it to my liking (probably starting with a tail tidy and luggage rack). Fun fact: the day I brought it home I discovered another Kawasaki Z900RS in the street. A neighbour that moved in 3 days before I bought mine also had one, so now we have two in our street!

Hiking

For the majority of my life I've not really enjoyed walking as a holiday activity. Which is funny, because I take my 7.5k steps a day quite religiously when at home. But last year me and my wife did some great hiking in the Alps which I really enjoyed. I was already familiar with the Alps, but only with the snowy type. Last summer we did two great hikes in Peru, one of them the famous 5 day Salkantay hike. Despite me preparing for temperatures between 10 and 30 degrees (I ended up hiking in shorts in a feels-like temperature of -7 degrees) we had a blast, and I actually really enjoyed prepping for it too. So I am on the lookout for my/our next adventure (maybe getting there by bike instead of plane this time).
